July 25-31, 2010 - Junior Fire Academy Friendship Fire Co had sent 3 junior fire fighters to the Junior Fire Academy in Franklin County, PA for training for the week. The three juniors were Billy Harrison, Devin Hart, and Patrick Bryner. They all found this training to be rewarding, challenging, and fun. They were glad that they had the opportunity to go this year. They were well trained, exercised alot, they had a chance to tour a different station each day, they spent their day at the USFA National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD on Friday, and they ate good everyday! Click here to view photos from the Junior Fire Academy! July 20, 22, & 24 - Results of the Tanker Shuttle Class The recent Tanker Shuttle Class was a success! Several junior and senior fire fighters had the chance to learn different scenarios in how to shuttle water using fire apparatus, hose, portable tanks, portable ponds, etc. Friendship Fire Co, Mifflintown Hose Co, and Thompsontown Fire Co participated in this event. Instructors from the State Fire Academy in Lewistown, PA and all the members who participated in this event made this such a success! Our final scenario using apparatus from all three companies allowed us to pump out 2,030 gallons of water per minute using 1300 feet of 5" hose and pumping water up 30-40 feet in elevation!
